A workshop that learned to design.

Interior Motive started in 2004 as a furniture workshop in Karachi making pieces for other people's projects. Two decades later we do the drawing as well — but the workshop is still the reason any of it works.

Our story

we got tired of watching good drawings get ruined.

For the first ten years we built other studios’ designs. We saw the same thing happen again and again: a beautiful drawing arrives, the fabricator can’t quite make it, something gets substituted on site, and the client never finds out why the finished room doesn’t look like the render.

So we brought the design in-house. Now the person who draws your wardrobe sits fifty metres from the machine that cuts it. If a detail can’t be built well, we know before you’ve approved it — not after you’ve paid for it.

That’s the whole idea, and it’s why the name has “motive” in it. There’s a reason behind every piece we make.

How we work

four things we won't compromise on

Quote it properly

Line-by-line, in writing, before work starts. If something changes, we re-quote rather than adding it to the final bill.

Say what's inside

If a panel is engineered board rather than solid timber, we tell you and price it accordingly. No silent substitutions.

Be honest about dates

Six weeks means six weeks. If we're going to be late you'll hear it from us first, with a new date and a reason.

Fix it if it's wrong

Snags get closed in writing. Anything that fails because of how we made it gets repaired or remade at our cost.
